Terms of Service

These terms ("Terms") govern your use of the Autotrader Africa website and mobile apps (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who we are

Autotrader Africa operates an online marketplace that lets people in Nigeria advertise vehicles for sale and contact one another. We provide the platform; we are not the buyer or seller in any transaction and we do not take possession of, inspect, or guarantee any vehicle. Contact: info@autotraderafrica.com.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using it you confirm that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate.

3. Your account

• You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account.
• Each account is linked to one email address and one contact phone number; your display name is set when you register.
• You must provide accurate, current information and keep your contact details up to date.
• You can delete your account at any time from within the app, which removes your listings, messages and reviews.

4. Listings and seller responsibilities

• You may only advertise a vehicle that you own or are authorised to sell, and which you are legally entitled to sell in Nigeria.
• Your listing must be accurate and not misleading — including make, model, year, mileage, condition, price and photos.
• You set your own price and deal directly with buyers. You are responsible for the sale, payment, paperwork and handover.
• The contact details on your listing are shown to signed-in users so buyers can reach you.
• We may edit, refuse or remove any listing that breaches these Terms or the law.

5. Prohibited conduct

You must not use the Service to: advertise stolen, cloned or encumbered vehicles; post false, fraudulent or misleading information; harass, threaten or defraud other users; post unlawful, infringing or offensive content; send spam; scrape or harvest other users' contact details; or interfere with the security or operation of the Service.

6. Fees

Listing a vehicle is currently free. We may introduce optional paid promotion or featured-listing options in future; where a charge applies, it will be clearly shown and you will be asked to confirm before any payment is taken.

7. Buying and selling — our role

The Service is a venue that connects buyers and sellers. We are not a party to, and are not responsible for, any transaction between users. We do not verify vehicles, sellers or buyers and we make no warranty about any listing. Always do your own checks — inspect the vehicle, verify ownership and documents, confirm pricing, and meet in a safe public place. Deal at your own risk.

8. Messages and reviews

Messages are between you and the other user. Reviews must be honest and based on a genuine experience. We may remove content that is abusive, fraudulent, unlawful or that breaches these Terms, and we may suspend accounts that misuse messaging or reviews.

9. Intellectual property

The Service, including its branding, design and software, belongs to Autotrader Africa. You keep ownership of the content you post, but you grant us a non-exclusive licence to host, display and distribute it for the purpose of operating the Service.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the Service unlawfully. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Autotrader Africa is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the Service or from any dealing between users, including the condition, legality, safety or value of any vehicle, or any failed or fraudulent transaction.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Autotrader Africa against claims, losses and costs arising from your listings, your conduct, or your breach of these Terms or the law.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Nigerian courts.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the date above. Continued use of the Service means you accept the updated Terms.
